Shortly after the announcement of the second lockdown in November, St Mary’s housekeeper, Gloria Gardner, and a team of dedicated volunteers resumed providing meals for the Homeless, bringing forward an existing plan originally scheduled to begin in December.
This time around local charities and statutory organisations were prepared and able to continue their work, so the decision was been made to confine the service to a smaller area. Sandwiches, cakes and soup are being made and delivered twice a week to 40 members of the Homeless community.
Warm clothing that has been donated by members of the parish is also being distributed. The team will take a short break at the end of December, and the work will pick up again in January. Further donations – whether food, clothing or financial – are all very gratefully received!
